About Us
Strait Marine is owned
and operated by Phil Trowbridge.
The business was established in April 2002, and started off as a mobile workshop. Within 6 months it became the sole Volvo Penta Dealer in the Wellington region and after 6 years took on a joint agency with Yanmar, Mercury and Cummins Onan Generators.
Phil has hands-on expertise in the boating business, having spent 2 years as relief engineer in the Mediterranean and has many years experience in living on, operating and maintaining boats. We have full workshop facilities and are able to service all types of engines. We also supply and install equipment from plumbing to electronics.
We supply and install equipment from plumbing to electronics. As of 2022 Strait Marine has taken on the OXE Diesel Outboard and John Deere Agencies.
Strait Marine has set up a workshop on the Chatham Islands working with Chatham Food Company in Owenga. We continue to look after our clients of over 20 years on the Chatham Islands.
Strait Marine now maintain and service Diesel motors running sprinklers on high rise buildings and we continue to increase our Industrial Profile.

Our workshop has all of the latest electronic diagnostic equipment for the speedy and reliable repairs you require. Our Technicians attend all service schools and are up to date with all the latest knowledge needed for the repair of your vessel.
